Robert Francis Sackett (b. 1843) death information #ThomasElder #SimonColonist

Ted Smith #55

Weygant has entries for two individuals named Robert Francis Sackett who died in the US Civil War. One is the son of Lemuel L. Sackett; this Robert F died of typhoid fever while on board the gunboat Forest Rose on 8 Nov 1864. Other available sources confirm these as facts.

However, for the Robert Francis Sackett, son of George Seymour Sackett, Weygant (p. 302) says he was b. 23 Dec 1843 and d. 1862. That death date appears incorrect. Several US government databases indicate that Pvt. Robert F. Sackett died 17 Feb 1863 and is buried in Washington, D.C. in the US Soldier's and Airmen's Home National Cemetery.
